Your first stop is the sacred St. Mary’s Church (Entoto Mariam)—one of Ethiopia’s oldest and most respected Orthodox sites. Within the same compound, you’ll explore the old Menelik II Palace, the historic royal residence of the emperor who founded Addis Ababa. This unique site blends spiritual significance with royal history, offering a fascinating look into Ethiopia’s past.
Continue with a short drive into the peaceful highlands, where you’ll walk through traditional villages surrounded by eucalyptus forests. Here, you’ll meet local families, observe daily mountain life, and learn about longstanding cultural traditions that make this community unique. The walk leads you to breathtaking cliff viewpoints overlooking Addis Ababa. From these dramatic edges, enjoy sweeping panoramic views and a spot hyenas in their natural environment
After your exploration, you’ll be invited into a local family’s home for a true Ethiopian home-cooked meal. Enjoy fresh injera and a selection of delicious stews and lentils while learning about Ethiopian home life and hospitality. This is not a restaurant it’s an intimate cultural exchange.
