Description
Hike the Calanques’ ridges and coastal trails, enjoying panoramic Mediterranean views. This adventure through stunning landscapes is perfect for nature lovers seeking an unforgettable experience.
This guided hike takes us through the breathtaking landscapes of the Calanques National Park, starting from the charming port of Callelongue. Following the well-marked trail, you’ll begin with a steep ascent onto the ridges of the Marseilleveyre massif. The path is rocky and uneven, so sturdy hiking shoes and plenty of water are essential. As we climb, the views open up to reveal the sparkling Mediterranean Sea, rugged limestone cliffs, and the distant Riou archipelago.
The ridge section of the hike is a highlight, offering panoramic vistas of the dramatic Calanques landscape. We’ll pass by notable landmarks such as the peaks of Marseilleveyre and Béouveyre, as well as the Plateau of the Dead Man. The trail here is narrow in places, with steep drops on either side, so caution is required. However, the effort is rewarded with some of the most stunning views in the region, where the stark white cliffs contrast beautifully with the deep blue sea.
We either take a break up on the ridges, to enjoy the panoramic view during picknick, or else we keep going to ensure we have enough time for a refreshing dip into the clear ocean water.
After hiking along the ridge, we begin our descent toward the coast. This section of the hike is less steep but still requires careful footing, as the path can be rocky. As we descend, the landscape changes, with more lush coastal vegetation appearing near the sea. The descent offers a different perspective of the Calanques, with the cliffs rising dramatically from the water’s edge.
The return route follows the coastal trail back to Callelongue. This part of the hike is less demanding than the ridge. The trail hugs the coastline, providing continuous views of the sea and the rugged cliffs. We pass by small coves and rocky outcrops, with the sound of the waves accompanying us.
This hike is moderately challenging, with steep ascents and descents, as well as uneven terrain. It’s important to come prepared with plenty of water, sun protection, and sturdy footwear.
Perfect for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts, this guided hike combines the thrill of ridge walking with the beauty of coastal trails. Available in German, English, Swedish & Polish. It’s a fantastic way to experience the wild and stunning landscapes of the Calanques National Park, offering a mix of adventure, scenic views, and a sense of accomplishment
