Description

Discover Château d'Avrillé, a family run estate since 1938. Follow the journey of the grapes from the vine to the bottle and taste 5 iconic wines in the tasting cellar.
Immerse yourself in the world of the Château d'Avrillé, an 18th-century jewel built in tufa rock, majestically overlooking the Aubance Valley. For four generations, the Biotteau family has passionately carried on the art of winemaking on this 200 hectares, one of the largest vineyards in Anjou.

On this 1.5-hour guided visit, your guide will tell you the fascinating story of Eusèbe Biotteau, a shoemaker who became a passionate winemaker in 1938 and opened the first free tasting cellar in Anjou. You will discover the region's iconic grape varieties (Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chenin Blanc) and the cultivation methods certified as High Environmental Value.

Then follow the complete journey of a grape: from the vineyard to the production cellar, all the way to bottling. You will learn all the secrets of making the estate's prestigious PDO wines: Coteaux de l'Aubance, Anjou Brissac, Crémant de Loire, and Cabernet d'Anjou.

The tour ends (for adults!) with a commented tasting of 5 iconic vintages in the château's cellar, where you can appreciate all the finesse and authenticity of the wines of the Loire. A fun and enriching experience at the heart of Anjou's wine heritage!
