Description
We explore Hanover's old town and city center with the city's entertaining beer history: from home brewing to guilds and industrial production. The Hanoverian Lüttje Lage will be tasted!
The Hanoverian brewing industry has left its mark all over the city's history books. On this city walk, we follow these traces from medieval home brewing to the invention of the Broyhan, from the beginnings of the brewers' guild to industrial mass production in the 19th century.
This tour is peppered with many little stories about Hanoverians' favorite drink. Get to know "Mother Pisewitt" and the times when "Lüttje Lage" was drunk en masse in the old town. How did 10 bottles of beer help to save the medieval roof truss of the Marktkirche from destruction and where did Hanover's first and only "beer church" stand?
