Duration: 02:00 hours

Description

Discover the beating heart of ancient Athens with an English-speaking guide through the Agora, the cradle of democracy. Ready to dive into history?
We will meet at the indicated time at the entrance of the Ancient Agora (meeting point : Thissio station on the Green Line) and, together with our guide, we’ll walk among the ruins that once formed the political, social, and commercial heart of the city. Imagine the merchants’ cries, the lively debates between philosophers, and the major decisions made by citizens: the Agora was all this and much more.

This two-hour tour will take you to discover true architectural masterpieces, such as the Temple of Hephaestus, one of the best-preserved Doric temples in the world—an extraordinary work that will leave you speechless. We will also visit the Stoa of Attalos, an impressive reconstructed portico that today houses the Agora Museum, home to unique artefacts that reveal the daily life of ancient Athenians.

During the visit, we will also explore the historical and spiritual significance of Saint Paul’s presence in Athens, focusing on his famous speech at the Areopagus (Mars Hill), where he addressed the Athenians and engaged with their philosophical and religious ideas—an episode that marked a key moment in the encounter between early Christianity and the classical world.

Unlike standard Agora tours, this experience connects ancient Athens with the ideas that shaped both classical philosophy and early Christianity, offering a deeper understanding of Western civilization.

Let yourself be carried away by the passionate and rigorous explanations of our guide, who will adapt the visit to the selected language option. It will be an immersive experience and a unique opportunity to fully understand the essence of democracy, philosophy, and spirituality, right where they profoundly intersected.

After two hours, our tour will come to an end.

Important: The meeting point for the guided tour is at the Thissio station on the Green Line.
