Elafonissi is one of Greece's most famous beaches, located 76km west of Chania at the south-western tip of Crete, forming a long strip of land that is often 'broken' in two by the water, giving the impression that it is a separate island.
The island is full of dunes with sand lilies and junipers. The endangered Caretta-Caretta turtle and several rare animals nest on the island and it is strictly forbidden to remove any plants or animals from the area as it is protected under the Natura 2000 network. On both sides of the peninsula there are exotic beaches with white sand and turquoise waters, reminiscent of the Caribbean. The sand is pink in many places, due to the thousands of broken shells.
Near the "breaking point" of the peninsula, the water does not exceed 1m, creating a small lagoon, ideal for children. You can easily cross the lagoon to reach the "island", taking your things with you, as the water is very shallow there. The east side of the beach, in front of the lagoon, is well organised and has the most people. There are umbrellas, showers, lifeguards, snack bars and changing rooms.

When should I book?
To guarantee availability book as soon as possible. Early booking is worth consideration especially if you planning the trip during high season like public holidays or weekends.
Cancellations
Cancellation is not possible. If you cancel it anyway or not show up on the excursion you will still be charged the full price of the activity and the money you paid will not be refunded.
