Shore Excursion from Puerto Quetzal to Antigua Guatemala and back
ID: GYG1017362-1573284
Category:
Country: Guatemala
Duration:
07:00 hours
Description
Cool and pleasant climate, safe environment, beautiful views. Private transportation with insurance, professional bilingual tour guides authorized by the Guatemalan Tourism Institute (INGUAT).
Cruise ships arriving on the southern coast of Guatemala dock either at the commercial port (Puerto Quetzal) or at the Pez Vela Marina.
If your cruise ship docks at the commercial port of Quetzal, please note that access to the port facilities is restricted. Only workers can enter and leave, but don't worry, INGUAT always coordinates free transportation from the commercial port to Marina Pez Vela. The distance from Puerto Quetzal to Marina Pez Vela is relatively short, about 10 to 15 minutes.
Take the free shuttle from Puerto Quetzal to Marina Pez Vela, where we will pick you up to begin the tour. The driver and tour guide will be waiting for you and will be easy to find as they will be holding a sign with your first and last name(s) and will also keep in touch with you via WhatsApp. If you don't have WhatsApp installed yet, I recommend installing it as I will be sending you updates related to the tour. Please note that you cannot walk around Puerto Quetzal or Marina Pez Vela, as it is prohibited due to heavy equipment and security measures at the facilities.
Our city pass will begin when you board the vehicle. There are beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and volcanoes, as well as sugar cane and cattle farms. The approximate time to reach the city of Antigua Guatemala is 90 minutes (1:30 hrs). Of course, this is an approximate time, which may vary due to situations beyond our control, such as road repairs, traffic, or accidents.
The first thing we will do upon arrival in the city of Antigua Guatemala is to locate restrooms for those who need them.
The city of Antigua Guatemala is small but is a jewel of colonial architecture. During our walking tour of the city, you will learn about the history of the city's most important tourist attractions, such as the Santa Catalina Arch, La Iglesia de la Merced, the Jade Museum (Casa del Jade), El Tanque de la Unión, and the Cerro de la Cruz viewpoint.
Depending on the time your cruise ship departs, we can make a brief stop for lunch at a restaurant serving typical Guatemalan food in the city of Antigua Guatemala. Please keep in mind that the estimated time to return is two hours. We must allow two or, even better, three hours to return to the port or marina where we picked you up and where the tour began.
