Description
A fascinating journey through time across the historical eras of Catania on a 2-hour guided walking tour that combines the charm of the ancient city with the dynamism of urban regeneration.
Journey through Catania's different historical periods on a 2-hour guided walking tour. From the majestic Cathedral in Piazza del Duomo and the Roman remains of the Terme della Rotonda, to the underground lava river, the mural of the Bank of Italy and the colors of Piazzetta delle Belle.
The itinerary starts from the spectacular Piazza del Duomo, dominated by the legendary Liotru in lava stone and the majestic Cathedral of Sant'Agata, a symbol of the Baroque and the city's rebirth. From here, we will retrace the impact of Mount Etna's major eruptions, venturing underground to admire the hidden cave where the waters of the Amenano River flow and the traces left by the lava flow.
We will then move on to the Roman era, discovering the evocative archaeological area of the Thermal Baths of the Rotonda, before emerging once more and transporting ourselves to contemporary Catania. We will head to the San Berillo district to admire the monumental mural "Banco di Vita" on the façade of the Bank of Italy and the vibrant urban redevelopment projects around Piazzetta delle Belle.
