On this 2-hour guided tour, discover the castle and its changes throughout the centuries. Admire the paintings, ancient fortified walls, statues, the treasure room and take in breathtaking views of the city.
The Castel Sant'Angelo was erected by Emperor Hadrian to be his tomb and many of his successors are buried there. The castle was also used by popes as their private residence, the state treasury, a prison and as a location for public executions throughout its history.
On your tour, you will be able to explore the rich history of the castle. See samples of magnificent art either in architecture or paintings. Enter the emperor’s burial place, the papal apartments, the treasury room, and much more. You will also enjoy one of the best breathtaking views of Rome.
Take fantastic panoramic photos of the castle and of the city from the terrace. You will be part of a small group (not exceeding 10 people), led by a professional, experienced, local guide who speaks fluent English.

All participants over 12 years old must present one of the following: proof of full vaccination, proof of first vaccination administered at least 22 days ago, proof of a Covid-19 infection in the past 6 months, or a negative PCR test taken no more than 48 hours before the activity starts
All participants who are 12 years and older must present a Green Pass that is valid in the EU and has a verifiable QR code. Valid Green Passes can be obtained by uploading either proof of vaccination, proof of a Covid-19 infection within the last 6 months, a negative PCR test taken no more than 72 hours before the activity starts, or a negative antigen test taken no more than 48 hours before the activity starts to the Green Pass or Covid Certificate apps
All participants must also bring a valid government-issued photo ID (e.g. passport, driver's license, etc)
Arrive 15 minutes before the activity starts. The guide will meet you in the square at the end of the bridge, outside the main entrance.
When should I book?
To guarantee availability book as soon as possible. Early booking is worth consideration especially if you planning the trip during high season like public holidays or weekends.
Cancellations
This excursion you can cancel with no cost up to 48 hours before the start of the trip. If you cancel it after 48 hours or not show up on the excursion you will still be charged the full price of the activity. Being late on pick-up or departure will be considered as not showing up.
