The fist stop will be at the UNESCO excavations of Pompeii. The buried cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum have been left under a blanket of ashes after the eruption of Vesuvius in 79. Let’s say “a must see” of our peninsula.
The Amalfi Coast got its name from the village of Amalfi, and was declared protected by UNESCO because of its mere beauty.
Amalfi is also rich in history and traditions: it is one of the four maritime republics, in fact every 4 years it hosts a sea race with Pisa, Genoa and Venice and in the past it boasted the production of the famous Amalfi paper. It is now possible to visit the paper museum itself.
Ravello is located on the beautiful Amalfi coast, but don’t be fooled as it’s positioned at 315 meters above the sea level.
The most popular places are Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrone in addition to the Cathedral of Ravello.
