Description

Join a local host for a personalized experience of Nagoya's colorful food scene. Visit ancient restaurants and street vendors in historic alleyways. Savor a culinary adventure from barbecued eels to giant 35-centimeter fried shrimp and Taiwan ramen.
Food, glorious food! Find out why the food culture in Nagoya has gone from small-town sensation to a source of pride in the city with a local expert foodie. Visit a neighborhood of your choice and try 6-8 dishes chosen especially for you by your private host. Benefit from a flexible itinerary you can change on the go as this is your adventure.

You'll be paired with guides that are passionate about the place they call home and who choose to spend their free time sharing it with like-minded travelers matched to them.

In Nagoya, ancient history collides with modern innovation, and this can be tasted in its cuisine, with modern twists being spun on dishes dating back to ancient times. With your host, eat your way through Nagoya and sample Nagoya meshi, the locals' name for the city's food.

The options are endless. Let your host show you how to eat hitsumabushi (grilled eel on rice) like the locals or munch on a bowl of miso nikomi (udon-style noodles served in a rich miso broth) at an underground mall. Nibble on snacks at one of the many izakaya (informal Japanese pubs) around Nagoya station and don't leave without trying the city’s famous chicken wings!

Just save space for ramen because Nagoya has developed its own spicier version called Taiwan ramen. Slurp down the ramen noodles — it's good manners, promise. Take in the sights along the way, and stroll through Hisaya-Odori Park as you work up an appetite for round 2.

Perhaps you want to drink sake in historic yokocho (alleyways) near Nagoya Castle? Or indulge your sweet tooth with some of the best cheesecake in town right outside Osu’s entrance? The choice is yours. At the end of your tour, get recommendations from your host about other dishes to eat and the best places to find them.
