Description

Enjoy a private day tour of Nara, the ancient capital of Japan. Visit historic temples and shrines, stroll among free-roaming deer, and discover the cultural soul of the country.
Meeting point and logistical details
The tour starts at Nara Station, easily accessible from Kyoto (45 min) or Osaka (1 hr) by train. You can choose between JR Nara Station or Kintetsu Nara Station. The exact meeting point will be confirmed after booking, and the tour guide will be holding a sign with your name or the tour name.
If you would like to be picked up from your accommodation within Nara, this is possible with prior notice (may incur an additional cost outside the city center).
The tour ends in the city center, usually near the station, although you can request to end at another location in the city.

Itinerary
Start with a visit to the imposing Todai-ji Temple, home to the Great Buddha and a World Heritage Site. Then, we will stroll through Nara Park, where more than a thousand sika deer live in freedom. You can feed them with special cookies and take unforgettable photos.
At midday, we will enjoy an optional lunch at a local restaurant with typical dishes such as udon, tofu, and traditional bento.
In the afternoon, we will visit the Kasuga Taisha Shinto shrine, surrounded by nature and famous for its thousands of lanterns.
We will end the day in the Naramachi district, full of historic alleys, traditional houses, and craft shops.
