Atsuta Shrine & Arimatsu Shibori Experience – Tradition and Craft in One Day

Begin your day with a visit to Atsuta Shrine, one of Japan’s most sacred Shinto shrines. Stroll through the peaceful forested grounds and feel the spiritual atmosphere as your guide shares stories of the shrine’s deep history and cultural significance.

Next, head to the charming town of Arimatsu, located along the historic Tokaido Road. Wander through preserved Edo-period streets and learn about Arimatsu’s rich heritage and its world-famous Shibori tie-dyeing tradition from your private guide.

Enjoy a hands-on Shibori workshop in a beautiful heritage house, where you’ll choose a traditional pattern and dye a handkerchief to take home. While your piece is drying, if you want, you may choose to wear a yukata (casual kimono, ¥3,300–¥5,500) or try Japanese archery in the garden (¥1,100), weather permitting.

Your guide will accompany you throughout the day. Hotel pick-up and drop-off included. This walking tour uses public transportation and offers a rich blend of spirituality, history, and craft.
