Description

Discover Nara on a guided walking tour. Visit Tōdai-ji, feed deer in Nara Park, and explore Kasuga Taisha Shrine. Enjoy a tea ceremony, calligraphy workshop, and visit a historic knife shop.
Begin your tour at Kintetsu Nara Station and head to Nara Park. Feed the famous deer and visit the Great Buddha at Tōdai-ji. Stop by Kikuichi, a traditional Japanese knife-making shop with over 750 years of history, for a brief visit.

Next, walk to and explore Kasuga Taisha, famous for its lanterns and tranquil forest paths. Enjoy free time around Higashimuki Shopping Street or a nearby café. This is a good chance to get lunch, do some souvenir shopping, or rest before the cultural activities.

Head to the Nara Visitor Center for a craft session. Learn origami and try calligraphy, writing your name in Katakana or Kanji. If time allows, costumes or kimonos may be available for a fun photoshoot.

Stroll to Gangoji Temple, one of the oldest in Nara. Visit the temple and hear a spooky origin story about its demon. Enjoy some free time inside the temple for personal exploration.

Take a short walk to a traditional café, Shofukutei, and enjoy a real tea ceremony led by a certified tea master. Savor freshly made matcha and a traditional handmade wagashi (sweet). Relax in the café, take photos, or just soak in the ambiance. Optionally dress up in a kimono earlier for photos if that part of the tour happened.

End the tour back near the starting point at Kintetsu Nara Station.
