Description
Experience the tea ceremony rooted in Samurai culture. Based on the Edo Senke School, known as “Samurai Tea,” it features movements of quiet strength reflecting the spirit and esthetic of the samurai.
Experience Japanese tea ceremony in the heart of Ginza, Tokyo. We offer tea ceremony experiences based on the Edo Senke School. Edo Senke was founded in the Edo period by Kawakami Fuhaku, who was trained under Joshinsai, the seventh-generation head of Omote Senke. Fuhaku later brought tea ceremony to Edo, the city of samurai. Blending the refined tea culture of Kyoto with the discipline of the samurai and the uplifting spirit of Edo townspeople, he created a distinctive tea style. Also known as “Samurai Tea,” this school is characterized with movements of quiet strength that reflect the aesthetic of the samurai spirit.
Your experience begins by observing the host perform a traditional tea ceremony on tatami mats while you enjoy seasonal Japanese sweets. Next, you will have the opportunity to try a tray-style tea ceremony yourself. Our instructor will guide you step by step, making this experience enjoyable even for complete beginners. You will also learn fukusa handling—the traditional method of using a silk cloth in the tea ceremony. Through this tea ceremony rooted in samurai culture, we invites you to experience the essence of Japanese beauty.
After the experience, visit our on-site gift shop, where you can purchase matcha and tea ceremony utensils to enjoy making matcha at home.
