Description

Watch a Grand Sumo tournament in Tokyo with real-time commentary from a local certified guide. See top-division wrestlers, learn the history behind this tradition, and visit sumo-related landmarks.
What sets apart this tour is its focus on the origin, history, and culture of sumo, as well as real-time commentaries in the sumo arena as the match progresses.
The grand sumo tournament tour in Tokyo is a small group tour of maximum 10 travelers with real-time commentaries by a sumo expert guide.
The tour consists of two parts: visit to sumo-related historical landmarks and viewing bouts in the sumo arena with real-time commentaries-both are accompanied by a sumo expert guide.
Here are some details.
1. Walking tour around Ryogoku, a sumo town (optional)
Visit sumo-related historical landmarks and look at sumo stables from outside where sumo wrestlers live and train. Increase joy of watching the tournament by learning a lot about sumo from your knowledgeable guide as you visit many sumo related must-see spots before you actually view the bouts in the arena.
2. While the tour entails the two essential and integral parts, we have prepared a 15:00 to 18:00 o’clock option where one can just join the sumo viewing part.

You can also choose a chanko dinner option.
The nutrient dish is commonly eaten by sumo wrestlers to build their muscle and bodies.

Highlights

  • Real-time commentaries by a local sumo expert guide throughout the experience.
  • Deepen knowledge about sumo history and culture to enhance joy of watching.
  • Stay on top of all matches with a special pamphlet walked through by the guide.
  • Join the enthusiasm in the arena by cheering a wrestler with your guide.
  • Use a headset to hear the guide well even from a distance throughout the tour.
