Visit the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust in Nairobi to meet and feed rescued orphaned baby elephants. Add an optional tour to see traditional bead-making practices at a local factory.
The tour begins with pick-up from your hotel in Nairobi. We will take you to the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust for a walk in a small center of open space surrounded by rope fencing. The smallest elephant trotted out of the bushes to greet the keeper, who stood ready with a giant milk bottle.
For the next 10-15 minutes, you can watch each little one suck and gargle milk. When they're done, there's water to play with and handlers to nudge and cuddle. When you can watch them play and take photos. You can find out how old they were when they arrived at the orphanage, where they were rescued and what got them into trouble. The most common causes of orphaning are mothers poached, falling into a well, and human-wildlife conflict.
Once the youngest children are fed they are taken back to the bush and then it is the turn of the 2-3 year olds. Some of them can feed themselves and some are still fed by keepers. It's so cute to watch them put their giant bottles in their suitcases, close their eyes with joy, and quickly drink gallons of milk.

When should I book?
To guarantee availability book as soon as possible. Early booking is worth consideration especially if you planning the trip during high season like public holidays or weekends.
Cancellations
This excursion you can cancel with no cost up to 24 hours before the start of the trip. If you cancel it after 24 hours or not show up on the excursion you will still be charged the full price of the activity. Being late on pick-up or departure will be considered as not showing up.
