Duration:

Description
Discover Kibera on a guided morning tour. Enjoy chai and mandazi with locals, visit a community center, and try your hand at crafting a keepsake at a women’s cooperative.
Begin your tour at Prestige Plaza, where your local guide — born and raised in Kibera — welcomes you before leading you into the heart of the community. The day begins quietly, with the scent of freshly brewed chai filling the air as Kibera wakes to life.
Stroll through narrow paths where shopkeepers open their stalls, children prepare for school, and artisans display handmade crafts. At your first stop, join locals at a small roadside café for a steaming cup of chai and mandazi, learning about how mornings in Kibera set the rhythm of the day.
Next, visit a community education center supported by the proceeds of this tour. Meet teachers and students, hear stories of transformation, and see firsthand how every booking contributes to brighter futures.
Continue to a women’s empowerment cooperative, where recycled materials are turned into beautiful beadwork and jewelry. Here, you can try your hand at crafting a small keepsake — a tangible memory of your visit.
As your walk continues, your guide shares personal stories about growing up in Kibera, the challenges faced, and the community’s strong sense of solidarity. End your tour at OAC Kenya Crafts, a social enterprise shop offering fair-trade souvenirs that directly benefit local families.
Before returning, pause for one last moment of reflection — sipping chai while overlooking the colorful rooftops and hearing the sounds of life in motion. You won’t just have seen Kibera; you’ll have shared a morning of hope, humanity, and connection.
