Description

The 3-day Trek to Ciudad Perdida is an intense and demanding experience, designed for travelers in excellent physical condition who want to reach this sacred site in the shortest time possible.
DAY 1: Santa Marta – Mamey – Camp 1 – Camp 2 – Paraíso (Camp 3)
Approximate time: Santa Marta – Mamey (3 hours by vehicle); Mamey to Camp 1 (3 hours); Camp 1 to Camp 2 (3 hours); Camp 2 to Camp 3 "Paraíso" (4 hours).

Departure from Santa Marta at 4:00 a.m. in 4x4 vehicles to El Mamey. After breakfast in the village, the trek begins to the first camp, "Adán" or "Alfredo," passing by the Mirador de las Tres Cruces and areas for swimming in rivers and natural pools.

After lunch, the hike continues to the Wiwa or Múmake Cabin (Camp 2) and, after a short rest, the trail resumes, skirting the indigenous village of Mutanyi until reaching Camp 3: "Paraíso" or "Paso de Lorenzo," where you will spend the night.

Camp 3: Bathrooms, showers, electricity by generator (6:00–9:00 p.m.).

DAY 2: Lost City – Camp 2
Approximate time: Camp 3 to Lost City (1 hour); tour of the Archaeological Park (3 hours); Camp 3 to Camp 2 (4 hours).

After breakfast, begin the ascent of 1,200 steps to the mythical Lost City. There, a local guide will lead a tour of the terraces, paths, and sacred structures of the Tayrona civilization, framed by the jungle of the Sierra Nevada.

After the visit, return to Camp 3 for lunch and then hike back to Camp 2 (Wiwa or Múmake Cabin), where you will spend the night.

Camp 2: Electricity, bathrooms, and showers (limited).

DAY 3: Camp 2 – El Mamey – Santa Marta
Approximate time: Camp 2 to El Mamey (6 hours)

After breakfast, 2-hour hike to the first camp (Adán or Alfredo), where you will take a short break. Continue for another 4 hours to El Mamey, where you will have lunch before boarding the vehicle back to Santa Marta.

This experience requires excellent physical condition: you will walk between 6 and 8 hours a day on uneven terrain in humid weather.

The trek takes place in a tropical rainforest, with temperatures between 74°F and 88°F during the day. At night, temperatures can drop to 64°F.

The climate is humid and hot, with a high probability of rain, especially in the afternoons. The trail may have muddy areas.

Mosquitoes, gnats, and other insects are common, so we recommend bringing good quality insect repellent.

During the tour, you will cross streams, so it is important to wear appropriate footwear and clothing that dries quickly.

This trip involves a cultural encounter with indigenous communities. We ask for your respect and tolerance of their customs to ensure a positive exchange.

Cancellations

This excursion you can cancel with no cost up to 24 hours before the start of the trip. If you cancel it after 24 hours or not show up on the excursion you will still be charged the full price of the activity. Being late on pick-up or departure will be considered as not showing up.
