Duration: 5 days

Description

We will witness the most unusual experience through the beautiful Macedonian mountains, villages, towns and landscapes, a true MTB traverse in the heart of Macedonia.
This is a journey will bring us deep in the woods, guide us through centuries old villages, bring us on top of mountain peaks, show us the never ending landscapes of untouched nature, offer us fresh fish from the river, welcome us with historical and cultural heritage in Krusevo town, serve us some great local food from the land owners, send us in the revolutionаry region of Demir Hisar, from there to the one and only apple region Prespa and the beautiful town of Resen, flirt with our emotions in the national park Galicica, test our feelings and energy and at end present us the unique beauty of the ancient town of Ohrid, protected by UNESCO for its historical and cultural heritage.
Once we start our journey in Dracevo village, our first 10 kilometers are asphalt and then we'll disappear in the mixed birch-pine woods where we'll spend the next 2 days making dust on the dirt on the up- and downhill roads of the Jakupica mountain massif. We'll pass through some abandoned villages above 1200 meters, eventually try some natural honey and ride to the mountain Hut Karadzica, where we'll spend the night and enjoy the indescribable views. On the way there will be a break at the fish pond Aldinci.
The next day we'll ride towards the Russian Monument area and take the downhill to the unique village of Jabolciste, where we'll meet people living in rural houses and specific environment. From there we'll take the Nezilovo pass and ride downhill again to the Nezilovo village to a Restaurant, where we have lunch. A brief meeting with the asphalt :) After the nice break we'll move towards King Marko Road over the hill from where the road takes us to Borino village and then to Krushevo. Krushevo is the highest town on the Balkans, on about 1300m and rich with history and unique houses and architecture. With the specific small stores and super typical cuisine we'll enjoy the rest of the day.
Day number 3. It brings us to the Demir Hisar Area, rich with many rural and untypical villages, important for the development of the macedonian national consciousness. After the visit of the Babino library and the well deserved lunch, we'll ride through Sloestica , Virovo and Boiste villages over the Plakenska mountian on our way to Resen, in the Prespa Region. On our way we shall visit the interesting Smilevo monastery from the 19th century. Riding downhill to Resen a region of countless Apple fields will show up, a paradise on earth between the 2 beautiful National Parks, Pelsiter and Galichica. Here we'll enjoy the peace and the presence of the locals and visit the typical Folklor museum.
The last day of the journey bring us on the passes of Galichica, the home of the macedonian lynx and habitat of over 1600 species of butterflies and many more species. A gender mountain with spectacular views. A lunch with unforgettable view in Velestovo. Our arrival in Ohrid is greeted by the oldest lake in Europe.
