Explore a quieter trail near Penang Hill on a guided nature walk. Enjoy scenic views, spot wildlife, and take a break at the Golden Stupa with snacks.
Meet at a beautiful historic temple before taking a slow walk through the local neighborhood. Start with a little history about the area before gradually leaving the houses behind and heading towards the greener side of Penang Hill.

The trail takes you through a mix of forest and plantation, where there is plenty to look at along the way. Keep an eye out for interesting plants, fungi, insects, and wildlife, and with a bit of luck, spot dusky leaf monkeys too. There’s no need to rush, so take your time to stop when something catches your attention.

Along the way, reach the beautiful Golden Stupa, where you can take a short break, have some snacks, and enjoy the surroundings. From there, continue along a flatter section of trail, passing another temple and plantation areas, with scenic views along the way. There will also be a chance to take a toilet break before continuing.

Make your way to Penang Hill Funicular’s Middle Station before heading downhill through the trail, finishing the walk with a different side of Penang Hill to explore.

The trail is mostly paved but includes some steep sections and stairs, so it may not be suitable for guests with mobility issues.
There’s a toilet stop along the way.
Look for Beow Hiang Lim Temple (妙香林寺) Address: 503 Jalan Bukit Bendera, Ayer Itam, Penang. I’ll be holding a pink walking stick so you can easily spot me.
