Description

Journey from Merzouga to Marrakech. Explore Todra Gorge, Dades Valley, and Ouarzazate's Atlas Studios. Visit UNESCO-listed Ait Ben Haddou and cross the High Atlas Mountains via Tizi n'Tichka Pass.
Day 1: Merzouga – Rissani – Todra Gorge – Dades Valley – Ouarzazate
Total Road Time: Approximately 5 to 6 hours of scenic driving (excluding sightseeing and lunch stops).

Explore Rissani Market & Imperial History
After a morning pickup in Merzouga, your journey begins with a short drive to Rissani (approx. 45-minute drive). As the historical capital of the Alaouite dynasty and the location of the ancient trading city of Sijilmassa, this town is steeped in heritage. You will have time to wander through its vibrant local market and explore traditional Kasbahs or the Mausoleum of Moulay Ali Cherif, depending on the schedule.

Walk Through the Dramatic Todra Gorge Oasis
Next, leave the desert plains behind as we travel toward the High Atlas foothills to reach the spectacular Todra Gorges (approx. 2.5 to 3 hours drive from Rissani). Here, massive limestone cliffs rise up to 300 meters on either side of a flowing river. Enjoy a relaxed walk on foot through the canyon floor to take photos and stretch your legs.

Drive the Scenic Dades Valley to Ouarzazate
From the gorges, the tour moves through the rugged Dades Valley, a region famous for its sweeping panoramic views, unusual rock formations, and traditional Berber villages. By early evening (approx. 2 hours drive from Dades), arrive in Ouarzazate, Morocco’s cinematic hub. Enjoy a traditional dinner and a comfortable overnight stay at a local hotel.

Day 2: Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah – High Atlas Mountains – Marrakech
Total Road Time: Approximately 4 to 4.5 hours of driving over the Atlas Mountains (excluding stops).

Visit Atlas Film Studios & UNESCO Ait Ben Haddou

Start your morning with a visit to the iconic Atlas Film Studios in Ouarzazate, the production site for Hollywood blockbusters like Gladiator, Kingdom of Heaven, and Game of Thrones.
Afterward, take a short drive to the famous Ksar of Ait Ben Haddou (approx. 30 to 40 minutes drive). This UNESCO World Heritage site is one of Morocco's most beautifully preserved fortified earthen villages. Walk through its winding clay alleyways, climb to the granary at the top for incredible valley views, and enjoy a lunch break at a local restaurant.

Cross the Tizi n'Tichka Pass to Marrakesh
In the afternoon, begin the stunning mountain drive across the High Atlas Mountains (approx. 3.5 hours drive remaining) via the spectacular Tizi n'Tichka Pass (reaching an altitude of 2,260 meters). The route offers constant photo opportunities, featuring terraced valley views, snow-capped peaks, and isolated Berber hamlets.

Late Afternoon Arrival & Hotel Drop-Off
We aim to arrive in Marrakech by late afternoon, around 6:00 PM (more or less).
Medina Drop-off: If your riad is located inside the pedestrian-only zones of the old Medina, your driver will drop you off safely at the closest accessible point near Jemaa el-Fnaa Square.
