Duration: 2 days

Description

Explore Terelj and Tsonjin Boldog over 2 days. See Turtle Rock and the Genghis Khan Statue, ride horses and camels, stay at a ger camp, and enjoy authentic food with a local nomad family.
Embark on an unforgettable two-day journey through the natural wonders and deep traditions of Mongolia, starting deep in Gorkhi-Terelj National Park.

Begin your adventure by weaving through giant granite rock formations to visit the iconic Turtle Rock before hiking up to the peaceful Aryaval Meditation Temple, perched high enough to give you a sweeping panoramic view of the entire alpine basin below. Once on the trail, saddle up a local horse and trek through the open valleys, experiencing the terrain just as locals have for centuries.

As the sun sets, check into a traditional tourist ger camp to relax, take in the evening valley views, and experience the stillness of a starry Mongolian night far from any city lights.

The next morning, head toward Tsonjin Boldog to visit the colossal Genghis Khan Statue Complex, the world's largest equestrian monument. Go inside the complex and take the lift straight up through the chest of the giant steel horse, stepping out onto its head for an unbelievable viewpoint overlooking the Tuul River winding across the open plains. Nearby, you can try camel riding and hold a majestic hunting eagle for photos.

To round out your experience, visit a local herder family's home to gain firsthand insight into daily pastoral life on the steppe, learn about their traditions, and share a delicious lunch of fresh, handmade buuz before heading back to Ulaanbaatar.
