Description
Explore Wuhan’s highlights on a guided tour. Visit the Yellow Crane Tower, walk across the Yangtze River Bridge, and discover the city’s history at the Jianghan Customs House Clock Tower.
Meet your guide in the lobby of your downtown Wuhan hotel and head to the Yellow Crane Tower. Admire its unique architectural style, with eaves shaped like yellow cranes spreading their wings. From the tower, enjoy panoramic views of Wuhan’s three towns and the Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge.
Next, visit the Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge, the first bridge built across the Yangtze River. Spanning the river between Snake Hill (Wuchang) and Turtle Hill (Hanyang), it is a dual-purpose bridge for railways and highways. In Wuhan, this bridge carries profound urban emotions and cultural memories.
Continue to Baotong Chan Monastery, Wuhan’s oldest existing Buddhist monastery with a history of over 1,600 years. Explore its architecture, which imitates the style of the Forbidden City in Beijing, featuring yellow glazed tiles and upturned eaves with brackets. Inside the monastery stands the Hongshan Pagoda, first built in the Yuan Dynasty.
Next, take a walking tour of Lihuangpi Road Street Museum, a 600-meter-long bluestone slab street featuring 17 ancient buildings. After Hankou was opened as a treaty port in the 19th century, this area was once dubbed "Oriental Chicago" by colonists. See other sites like the Bagong Building, the former site of Hankou Russian Concession Police Station, the former site of Shunfeng Tea House, the former site of the August 7th Conference, and Hankou Orthodox Church.
Visit the Jianghan Customs House Clock Tower, a landmark historical building of Wuhan, located at the intersection of Yanjiang Avenue and Jianghan Road in Hankou. Built in 1924, it combines European Renaissance and British classical architectural styles. Once Wuhan’s tallest building (with a total height of 45.85 meters), it held the title of "Wuhan’s Tallest Building" for 62 years.
End your tour at Hankou River Beach Park, a riverside landscape belt built along the Yangtze River. As Wuhan’s largest riverside scenic area, it faces the Yellow Crane Tower across the river.
