Description
A 7-day safari in Nepal's first national park, with a high chance of spotting one-horned rhinos, tigers, and crocodiles.
Journey to Chitwan National Park, Nepal’s original and most celebrated wildlife sanctuary. This 7-day tour is a perfect blend of exhilarating adventure and serene nature immersion, providing an accessible yet authentic safari experience in a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Your adventure begins with a scenic drive or flight from Kathmandu, transporting you to the tranquil setting of a safari lodge near the park. Over the next week, you will dive into the heart of the jungle with a variety of activities. The park, famous for its dense population of one-horned rhinos, offers incredible opportunities for close-up sightings of these prehistoric-looking creatures.
You will embark on multiple jeep safaris, venturing into the tall grasslands and sal forests. While the elusive Royal Bengal Tiger is harder to spot here than in Bardiya, the thrill of tracking it is unparalleled. The park is also home to a staggering array of other wildlife, including spotted deer, wild elephants, sloth bears, leopards, and over 540 species of birds.
A key part of your safari is a peaceful canoe trip on the Rapti River. As you glide silently, you'll see a variety of aquatic birds and crocodiles, including the rare, long-snouted gharial. You will also take guided jungle walks with an expert naturalist, learning about the smaller flora and fauna and tracking animal prints.
Beyond the wildlife, you will be welcomed by the local Tharu community. A visit to their village provides a glimpse into their traditional way of life, culminating in a captivating evening of folk dances. This tour is a comprehensive escape that combines the thrill of a safari with a deep cultural connection.
