Duration: 03:00 hours

Description

Learn to make traditional Nepali momos and dishes from scratch with a local family in their home kitchen. Includes market visit, hands-on cooking, and tasting your creations with Nepali tea.
Step into a real Nepali family kitchen and learn to cook authentic dishes from scratch. Your experience begins with a pickup from your hotel in the Thamel area. From there, you head to a local market where your host shows you how to pick the freshest ingredients, from spices to vegetables to meat for the momos. At the family home in Banasthali, your host teaches you the art of Nepali cooking. Roll the dough, prepare the filling, and fold momos by hand the traditional way. You also learn to make dal bhat, the staple Nepali meal that fuels every trekker and farmer in the country. Once everything is cooked, sit down with the family and eat what you made. Wash it all down with a cup of Nepali chiya (milk tea). Your host shares stories of Nepali food culture, family traditions, and daily life in Kathmandu. After the class, a vehicle takes you back to your hotel in Thamel. This is a small group experience, so you get personal attention whether you are a complete beginner or an experienced cook. Vegetarian and vegan options are available on request. Recipes are shared so you can recreate the dishes at home.
