Description

Journey to the stunning Annapurna Sanctuary and Base-Camp, encircled by the peaks of the giant Annapurna 1, the unclimbed Fang, and the fishtail shaped Machapuchare, on a 14-day exploration of the vast Himalayan landscape from Nepal's capital, Kathmandu.
Venture into a dazzling myriad of snow-capped stone giants en route to the rustic beauty of the Annapurna Sanctuary and Base-Camp in an exciting fortnight of unimaginable adventure! Trek through the Modi Khola Valley with its lush forests of oak, rhododendron, and bamboo, passing local Gurung villages, towards a breathtaking horizon that hosts some of the world's most spectacular scenery.

The vast natural amphitheatre of the sanctuary is encircled by the Himalaya's famous peaks – the 'fishtail' spire of Machapuchare, Annapurna South, Gangapurna, the unconquered Fang, and the gargantuan Annapurna 1 – each one taller than the last.

Itinerary:

Day 1
Arrive in Kathmandu, Nepal's capital city, where you'll spend the night.

Day 2
From Kathmandu you'll fly to Pokhara and then walk over foothills to the little town of Hile, where you'll enjoy the domineering panorama of the Himalayas and its most famous peak, Everest.

Day 3
Trek to Ghorepani, an historic rest-stop once used for ancient traders and their horses.

Day 4
Descend slightly on your journey around the hills to the tiny village of Chuile.

Day 5
Hike to the beautiful small town of Sinuwa, that overlooks the confluence of the rivers Modi Khola and Chhromrong Khola.

Day 6
On the sixth day you will reach the edge of what is officially recognised as the Himalayas mountain range.

Day 7
Trek to the first of the two base-camps you'll visit. Machapuchare Base-Camp lays at an altitude of 3700 meters, a little over halfway up to the mountain's extraordinary fishtail-shaped peak.

Day 8
Hike to Annapurna base camp, the highest point of the tour at 4130 meters. Relish the stunning views over Nepal and stay the night. With any luck the morning will be clear enough to witness the unbeatable sunrise!

Day 9
Descend the rocky paths to Bamboo, a tiny village that takes its name from the surrounding forest dense with the favoured food of Nepal's native Red Pandas.

Day 10
Head to Jhinu Danda where you'll enjoy the afternoon soaking in the town's hot-springs.

Day 11
On the longest day of the tour you'll hike 8 hours to the village of Dhampus.

Day 12
Walk to the small town of Phedi where you'll be met by a driver and taken back to Pokhara for a chance to enjoy the sights of the city or simply get some well-earned rest!

Day 13
Fly back to Kathmandu. Please inform the company in advance whether you'd like to return in the morning or afternoon, depending on whether you'd value the extra time more in Pokhara or in the capital.

Day 14
