Pokhara: Sarangkot Sunrise & Kaskikot Heritage Day Hike

Start early with a short drive to Sarangkot Viewpoint, the best spot to witness the sunrise over the Annapurna and Machhapuchhre (Fishtail). Enjoy breakfast at Sarangkot with stunning Himalayan views before beginning your hike.
The trail winds through lush forests, terraced fields, and traditional mountain villages, with constant views of Phewa Lake and the Pokhara Valley. Along the way, you’ll get a genuine glimpse of local life and the rural charm of the mid-hills.
After about two hours, reach Kaskikot, an ancient hilltop settlement known for its historic palace ruins and sacred temple. From here, you can enjoy a spectacular 180° panorama featuring three major Himalayan ranges — the Manaslu range (Manaslu I, 8,163 m) to the east, the Annapurna range (Annapurna I, 8,091 m) in the center, and the Dhaulagiri range (Dhaulagiri I, 8,167 m) to the west — along with more than fifteen peaks above 6,000 meters.
Continue your descent through Khadegaon to Nagdanda, where you’ll board a local bus back to Pokhara — a memorable ride shared with friendly locals.
This moderate 11 km hike is one of the best short treks around Pokhara, blending Himalayan scenery, cultural heritage, and countryside beauty into a single, unforgettable day adventure.
