Begin your experience by learning about the history of bees in New Zealand. Hear about the introduction of the European honeybee and how a colony builds honeycomb, converts nectar into honey, and operates seamlessly as a colony within each hive.
Learn about the basics of propolis, beeswax, and royal jelly, and how these amazing compounds are produced by bees. Then, begin working with a fresh frame of honey.
Remove the ‘capping’ from your frame to expose the delicious honey underneath. Then, spin your frame in a powered extractor. Watch through the clear lid to see your honey flying out under the centrifugal force, ready to pour out the ‘honey gate’.
Open the 'honey gate' and watch your honey pour into a filter to remove any beeswax. Once filtered, it's ready to bottle. Lick the honey off your fingers and get your photo taken for your personalized honey label.

The tour is fully indoor heated honey extraction room, and runs regardless of what the weather is doing outside. No live bees are present
Duration is 60 minutes
Enter the main Buzzstop Honey Shop and speak to any staff member, and they will introduce you to your Bee Keeper / Guide.

When should I book?
To guarantee availability book as soon as possible. Early booking is worth consideration especially if you planning the trip during high season like public holidays or weekends.
Cancellations
This excursion you can cancel with no cost up to 24 hours before the start of the trip. If you cancel it after 24 hours or not show up on the excursion you will still be charged the full price of the activity. Being late on pick-up or departure will be considered as not showing up.
