Discover the geothermal features using a self-guided map or join a guided tour. Learn about the history, features and uniqueness of the geothermal area. After learning about the unique healing muds of Hells Gate, experience New Zealand’s historic spa experience for yourself!

Soak in unique thermal mud and acidic sulfurous waters that have been used by the local Maori for more than 800 years. The warm geothermal mud opens and cleans the skin’s pores, while the sulphur spas give your skin a gentle exfoliation and deep cleansing.

Note that a complimentary shuttle service picks up from central Rotorua three to four times a day (seasonally) with scheduled return services.

• Complimentary shuttle must be pre-booked and is subject to availability
• Please confirm your shuttle pick-up time and location with the local operator after booking, note that your hotel pick-up may be earlier than the time shown when booking
• The minimum age for the mud baths is 2.5-years-old, whereas the sulphur spa is 6 months of age
• All children under the age of 15 must be supervised by a caregiver at all times. Children are recommended not to bathe for extended periods of time, and drink water constantly
• Open daily except for Christmas Day, opening hours vary seasonally
• Allow 1 hour for self-guided walk or 1.5 hours for guided tour
• The Park is an all-weather activity, wet weather can make the geothermal park activity more noticeable
• Bring swimwear and towels, they will not be discolored by the sulphur but should be washed as soon as practicable
• Changing rooms, shower facilities, and disabled facilities are available onsite

To guarantee availability book as soon as possible. Early booking is worth consideration especially if you planning the trip during high season like public holidays or weekends.

Cancellations

This excursion you can cancel with no cost up to 48 hours before the start of the trip. If you cancel it after 48 hours or not show up on the excursion you will still be charged the full price of the activity. Being late on pick-up or departure will be considered as not showing up.
