Description

Follow William of Orange through Delft, from the Prinsenhof where he was shot in 1584 to his tomb in the New Church. Private guide and church tickets included.
Delft is where the story of William of Orange ended, and where the Dutch royal family is still laid to rest. On this private walking tour, you follow the Father of the Fatherland through the city where he spent the last part of his life.

Your guide starts with the man himself: the prince who led the Dutch Revolt against Spain. You walk to the Prinsenhof, the former convent where he lived, and where he was shot by Balthasar Gerard in July 1584.

Across the canal stands the Old Church, which you visit with your guide. Then you continue to the Markt and the New Church. Inside, you stand in front of William of Orange's monumental tomb and hear why he was buried in Delft and not in Breda. The crypt below is still the burial place of the Dutch royal family.

Along the way, your guide connects his story to the Delft of the Golden Age that grew out of his revolt.

The tour takes about 2 hours and runs Monday to Saturday, when the New Church is open.
