Description

Two Golden Age towns in one half day: Delft, home of Vermeer and Delft Blue, and Gouda, the cheese town with its Gothic town hall. Private guide and transfer included.
Delft and Gouda lie only a short ride apart, yet each tells its own story of the Dutch Golden Age. On this private half-day tour, one guide takes you through both towns, and the transfer between them is included.

In Delft, you stand on the Market Square between the New Church, the burial place of the Dutch royal family, and the Renaissance town hall. Your guide tells you about William of Orange, who was assassinated in Delft in 1584, about the painter Johannes Vermeer, who lived and worked here, and about the Delft Blue pottery that made the town famous. Along quiet canals you also see the leaning tower of the Old Church.

In Gouda, the Gothic town hall stands in the middle of the triangular market square. You see the Waag, the 17th-century weighing house where cheese was weighed and traded, and the Sint-Janskerk, known for its stained-glass windows. Your guide explains how cheese, candles and clay pipes shaped the town.

You can start in Delft and end in Gouda, or the other way around: just choose the option that suits you. Pick-up and drop-off by car from your hotel in South Holland, North Holland or Utrecht, including Amsterdam, is available as a separate option.

This is a private tour for your party only. You set the pace, and if you have an interest in a certain topic, just let us know.
