Mathildenhöhe Darmstadt World Heritage Site Festival, with the kind support of: ENTEGA AG, Sparkasse Darmstadt, and the science and technology company Merck
On the weekend of June 6–7, 2026, the Mathildenhöhe will celebrate its World Heritage Site Festival, which will include the opening of the exhibition “A Step Ahead / Einen Schritt voraus” to mark the 125th anniversary of the first exhibition held there in 1901.

To commemorate the marriage of Grand Duke Ernst Ludwig to Eleonore von Solms-Hohensolms-Lich in 1905, the City of Darmstadt commissioned the architect Joseph Maria Olbrich to design the Hochzeitsturm (Wedding Tower). It was built on the Mathildenhöhe between 1907 and 1908 by the city's building authority.

Climb the 48.5-meter (159-foot) tall structure and take a look inside the Prince's Room and the Wedding Room. The guided tour ends with a visit to the observation deck.

Duration: 60 minutes


To participate in one of the 60-minute guided tours of the Hochzeitsturm, you must select a fixed time slot. This tour takes place once on Saturday at 4:00 PM and once each at 12:00 PM, 2:00 PM, and 4:00 PM on Sunday!

  • 60-minute tour / Admission to the Darmstadt Wedding Tower is included in the ticket price.
NOT INCLUDED
  • The ticket entitles the holder to participate in one guided tour only and is independent of the combination ticket! The combination ticket can be booked in advance or purchased at the box office.
  • Due to weddings taking place in the Wedding Tower, admission on Saturday (06/06) will only be possible from 3:30 PM.

When should I book?

To guarantee availability book as soon as possible. Early booking is worth consideration especially if you planning the trip during high season like public holidays or weekends.


Cancellations

This excursion you can cancel with no cost up to 24 hours before the start of the trip. If you cancel it after 24 hours or not show up on the excursion you will still be charged the full price of the activity. Being late on pick-up or departure will be considered as not showing up.
