Description

Have an experience of a lifetime. Mush your own team of dogs across the Arctic wilderness. This is an interactive adventure. Be hands-on with the dogs, be in control of your own sled, and finish it all with a slice of chocolate cake.
To start the adventure, your driver will meet you at the pickup point at the Scandic Ishavshotel 10 minutes before your scheduled departure. You will hop on the comfortable minibus and enjoy the short 35-minute drive out to the kennel on the island of Kvaløya. When you arrive at the kennel, you will be directed to the equipment room, where you will be kitted out with everything you need including winter suits, boots, and headlamps. You will be able to leave any items that you do not need in the lockers.

Once kitted out, you will see the kennel of 130 Alaskan Huskies, who are always excited to meet guests. You will be given a short talk and a demonstration on how to drive a sled and be able to ask any questions that you may have. After everyone is happy with the instructions you will follow your guide up to where your teams are ready and waiting for you. Each pair, one passenger and one driver, will have their own sled. You will be given several opportunities to swap between roles once the trip starts.

You will be assisted by staff in setting your team off and you will then follow the guide on the trail. Passengers are welcome to take photos throughout the trip. Once your 90-minute adventure is coming to an end, the staff will assist you in getting back safely to the starting point. Then, you can thank your dogs and make your way into the Sami Lavvo where hot drinks and Hege's famous homemade chocolate cake will be served. Enjoy sharing your stories from the trip around the cozy fireplace until it is time to change out of your suits and hop back on the bus. You will be returned to the pickup point.
