From October to January, the herring migration draws an abundance of majestic whale species to the fjords of Skjervøy — and you can be right there with them.
Joining a RIB boat is a unique adventure that combines the thrill of close wildlife encounters with the serene beauty of Norway's fjords. This is an incredible experience to grab an unforgettable glimpse into the natural wonders of the Arctic.
You can choose between two options:
-With transfer from Tromsø.
-Without transfer, meeting directly in Skjervøy.
Please carefully choose the option suitable to your plans. Skjervøy is approximately 160km from Tromsø and a 4 hour drive.
If you start from Tromsø, your journey begins early with a scenic 4-hour bus to the island of Skjervøy. Once there, you’ll spend around three exhilarating hours at sea, braving the Arctic elements in search of whales. After the safari, you’ll warm up on shore with hot drinks and snacks before settling in for the comfortable return drive, arriving back in Tromsø by early evening.
If you have your own transport or are staying in Skjervøy, simply meet us at the harbor for the same tour but without the transport.
Your experienced skipper will suit you up in the necessary safety equipment before whisking you away on an open RIB boat to speed through the stunning fjords of Northern Norway, spotting wildlife and capturing unforgettable moments.
Back on shore, warm your hands around a hot drink and snacks, then settle in for the comfortable return to Tromsø.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
- Transfer is NOT included in the option leaving from Skjervøy. You will receive further meeting details for both option upon booking.
- Our skipper will do their utmost to find whales and marine life during your trip, but these are wild animals and therefore we cannot guarantee sightings!
- A RIB boat travels at speed and is open to the elements so you will have the full Arctic experience. It can get very cold at sea so please wrap up as warm as possible with many layers to wear underneath your thermal suit. Don't forget your hat, gloves and a scarf!
- We advise you to prepare breakfast to take on the coach journey with you and some additional snacks and water.
- You need a general fitness level to join this tour.
- Due to the size of the boat, please bring only essential items with you and we recommend using a waterproof bag.
- The transfer is provided by a partnered supplier. It is a scheduled bus and has set times. (NOT INCLUDED IN FROM SKJERVOY OPTION)
You will meet us in the village of Skjervoy at our boathouse in the harbour.
Look out for the Frozen Frontiers poster in front of out boat house, it is a red building with a white door!

When should I book?
To guarantee availability book as soon as possible. Early booking is worth consideration especially if you planning the trip during high season like public holidays or weekends.
Cancellations
This excursion you can cancel with no cost up to 24 hours before the start of the trip. If you cancel it after 24 hours or not show up on the excursion you will still be charged the full price of the activity. Being late on pick-up or departure will be considered as not showing up.
