Discover the beauty of the Far North on a full-day tour from Paihia, Kerikeri, Mangonui, Coopers Beach, Taipa, or Kaitaia. Visit the famous Cape Reinga, where the Tasman Sea and the Pacific Ocean collide, and climb the sand dunes of Te Paki Stream.
Depart from Paihia at 7:30 AM or Kerikeri at 8:15 AM. If you are staying in Mangonui, Coopers Beach, Taipa, or Kaitaia, you can be picked up at a time that suits you.
Travel along the coastal road to Cape Reinga, stopping at Taipa to purchase lunch. Pass through rural coastal towns, beautiful beaches, and quirky shop fronts. Stop at the southern end of 90 Mile Beach to walk along the sand and take in the views.
Arrive at Cape Reinga, where the Tasman Sea and the Pacific Ocean collide. Walk to the lighthouse on the edge of New Zealand and hear the crashing of the two oceans. Take time to absorb the atmosphere of this spiritual place, where according to Maori history, spirits begin their final journey to their ancestral land Hawaiki.
Head south to the immense sand dunes of Te Paki Stream. Climb to the top and take in the views. If you are brave enough, grab a sandboard and surf the dunes.
In the afternoon, work your way back to Paihia via Mangonui, where you can walk the promenade and grab a beer in the historic Mangonui Tavern.
