Description

The NZ Division was sent to the Western Front where it partipated in the Battle of the Somme in 1916. The New Zealanders were also involved in Arras to extend former underground tunnels for an attack.
- Departure of your hotel at 09:00am from Amiens or Arras to the Somme battlefield
- Visit of some important places to give you an overview of the countries who were also involved.
- We move to the Caterpillar Valley where the New Zealand Division was engaged during the first battle using also tanks on September 1916. We will visit the cemetery and memorial for the missing and then we will move to the New Zealand monument built on a former German trench.
- We will move after to Arras to visit the Wellington quarry open to the public. You will see what it was made by the NZ tunneling companies in preparation of the attack on April 17.
- Then we will go back to your hotel
