Category:
Country: Uganda
Duration:
04:30 hours
Description
Explore Entebbe on foot with a local guide, then watch the sun set over Lake Victoria on a cruise to the Equator Monument on Lwaji Island. Stand with one foot in each hemisphere before cruising back.
Begin your afternoon in Entebbe with a relaxed walking tour led by a local guide. Wander through the lush Botanical Gardens, take in views along the Lake Victoria shoreline, and stroll through local streets to see everyday town life — a mix of nature and community that gives you a genuine feel for Entebbe beyond the usual sightseeing stops.
From there, transfer to Nakiwogo landing site, where a safety briefing and life jacket fitting prepare you for the journey ahead. Board a boat and cruise across Lake Victoria toward Lwaji Island, one of Uganda's recognized equator crossing points. Along the way, keep an eye out for pelicans, kingfishers, and other birdlife that call the lake's shores home.
At Lwaji Island, disembark at the Equator Monument for a memorable photo stop — stand with one foot in the northern hemisphere and the other in the southern hemisphere, marking your crossing of one of the planet's defining lines.
As the afternoon turns to evening, board the boat for the return cruise, timed to coincide with sunset over Lake Victoria. Watch the sky shift through gold and amber as the boat glides back toward Nakiwogo, a peaceful and visually stunning end to the day.
Back on shore, you'll be transferred to your hotel, bringing a half-day of walking, wildlife, history, and natural beauty to a close.
