Description
Explore the subway aqueducts of Cantalloc, a Nazca engineering marvel. Discover its labyrinthine tunnels and learn how these ancient canals sustained the advanced civilization.
At the agreed time, you will be picked up at your hotel to start the tour to the upper part of the Nazca Valley, towards the Cantalloc area.
On the way, we will stop at the Inca ruins of Caxamarca, a tambo that served as a resting place during the expansion of the Inca empire along the Peruvian coast. There, we will explore the stone enclosures and our tour guide will provide fascinating details about the history of the Incas and the importance of this site.
Then, we will head to the archaeological site of Las Agujas, where an imposing trapezoid can be seen from the top of a small hill. Our tour guide will share the theories about the Nazca Lines and allow you to get up close to one of the most famous designs, built over a thousand years ago.
Finally, we will visit the Cantalloc aqueducts, an amazing example of Nazca hydraulic engineering. These subway canals, built centuries ago, are still in use today. Here you will learn about the Nazca's ingenuity to survive in the desert, as well as their irrigation techniques. Along the way, you will also enjoy a beautiful natural environment, with plantations of cotton, corn, potatoes and other crops (depending on the season).
