Description
Walk with crampons on the Perito Moreno Glacier and discover crevasses, seracs, and turquoise lagoons. Experience the most famous ice trekking and toast with whiskey and millennial ice. Includes transport.
Minitrekking is one of the most iconic experiences to discover the Perito Moreno Glacier in a unique way: walking on its ancient ice. A moderately physically demanding adventure that combines nature, environmental awareness, and excitement in one of Patagonia's most impressive landscapes.
The excursion begins in El Calafate, with transport in comfortable buses to Los Glaciares National Park. During the tour, specialized tour guides accompany the trip with information about the region, setting the stage for what will be an unforgettable day.
Upon arrival at the Bajo de las Sombras cruise port, there is a boat trip of approximately 20 minutes on Lake Rico, in front of the glacier's imposing southern wall. This first contact from the water allows you to grasp the magnitude of the Perito Moreno.
On the opposite shore, visitors are greeted by mountain guides and led to a lodge with a panoramic view. From there, the experience begins: a hike along the lake's shoreline, with the glacier always in sight, followed by an informative talk on glaciology that invites you to understand this fascinating natural environment.
Upon reaching the edge of the ice, crampons and helmets provided by the company are put on, and small groups are organized to ensure a safe and personalized experience (one tour guide for every 10 passengers).
The most eagerly awaited moment comes when you step onto the glacier: a hike of approximately one hour on an irregular but firm surface, where each step reveals a surprising landscape. Deep crevasses, seracs, sinkholes, and small lagoons of an intense blue color are part of a constantly changing landscape.
The experience continues off the ice, touring the periglacial zone and the lateral moraine, from where there are panoramic views of the glacier, the mountains, and the lake. The drop-off is through the Patagonian Andean forest, completing a total hike of approximately three hours, of which one hour is on the ice.
Before boarding for the drop-off, visitors enjoy a hot drink and receive a souvenir as a memento of the experience. The drop-off cruise offers one last close look at the imposing walls of the glacier.
The excursion lasts approximately 10 hours with transport and includes a visit to the boardwalks of the Perito Moreno Glacier, where you can walk along the various balconies and enjoy unique panoramic views. If you don't choose the transport option, the duration is approximately 4.5 hours, departing from the cruise port and returning to the same point.
The mini-trekking takes place in a dynamic natural environment, where conditions are constantly changing, making each experience unique. As long as safety conditions permit, the activity takes place as normal. We look forward to seeing you!
