Description
The rainbow appearance of Vinicunca is due to a complex geological history of marine, lacustrine and fluvial sediments, the sediments formed layers that today are seen as the strips.
Our tour starts with the pick up from your hotel from 3.30 to 4.00am, then we head to the town of Cusipata, (2 hours approx.). Arriving at this small and picturesque village we will stop for an energizing breakfast, then free time to buy hydrating drinks, snacks and use the restrooms. Afterwards, we will continue our journey for an additional 1 hour drive to the starting point of the trek, the community of Chillihuani (4500m approx.).
The adventure begins after an introduction, recommendations and precautions from our tour guide, then we will start our hike. The ascent will be gradual and will last approximately 2 hours. During the journey we will observe a great variety of South American camelids Alpacas, Llamas, birds, lagoons, valleys, streams and snow-capped mountains.
After walking approximately 3 kilometers we will finally arrive at the Colors Mountain or Rainbow Mountain. This place is unique and magical because nature capriciously formed a colorful mountain with the appearance of a rainbow, is where we have the respective explanation of the place, then free time to photograph, enjoy and explore this magical place. After enjoying a quiet moment in contact with nature. We will start our return to the town of Cusipata where we will have lunch. Later we will return to Cusco city (San Francisco square) ending our tour at 5.00pm approx.
