Learn the art of stone carvers at the sillares quarry and hike through the Culebrilla Canyon.
The tour has two departure times, at 8:00 am and 2:00 pm. The excursion will begin with a pick-up at your hotel in Arequipa (Historic Center). From there we will go to the ashlar stone quarries, where we will take a guided tour to learn about the work of the stonemasons, a trade that has been active since ancient times. The stones in this area have the peculiarity that they can only be worked by hand, otherwise they would break. The work of the stonemasons consists of carving the stone until it forms the ashlar that will then be used in the constructions so typical of this area of Peru. Did you know that this material comes from the lava of the volcanoes that surround Arequipa? Afterwards, we will walk for half an hour to our next destination, the Culebrillas canyon, a ravine formed by nature itself and the passage of water. Here we will take a hiking route between its rock walls between 15 and 20 meters high and you will be able to take some great photos. We will also be able to see the ancient petroglyphs, rock symbols engraved in the rock whose meaning is a mystery. After a four-hour tour, we will return to the center of Arequipa. The excursion will end near the Plaza de Armas.

This excursion you can cancel with no cost up to 24 hours before the start of the trip. If you cancel it after 24 hours or not show up on the excursion you will still be charged the full price of the activity. Being late on pick-up or departure will be considered as not showing up.
