The mountain of Palcoyo comprises three vibrant peaks nestled in the Andes at an altitude of 4,100 meters. Compared to its counterpart, Vinicunca, the hike to Palcoyo is notably easier. In addition, the circuit offers the opportunity to explore the Stone Forest, with breathtaking views of the mountains.
The excursion begins with hotel pick-up from the Centro Historico, usually between 4:00 and 5:00 a.m. We then head to Cusipata for breakfast before heading to a designated parking area where the hike begins.
The hike, which lasts approximately 1 hours at a moderate pace with breaks, culminates in a guided tour of the site, leaving plenty of time to explore and marvel at the surrounding landscapes, including the Stone Forest.
After the visit, we will return to the vehicle and head back to Cusipata for a well-deserved lunch. Our return trip to Cusco concludes with the descent near the Plaza de Armas, with an estimated time of arrival around 6:00 p.m.
