Description
The Nevado Ausangate is the fifth highest glacier or peak in Peru after the Nevado Huandoy (Ancash), has an altitude of 6,384 m.a.s.l., and belongs to the Vilcanota mountain range.
Day 1: Cusco - Ocongate - Tinki - Upis
The adventure begins at 5:00 a.m. with pickup from the hotel. We travel towards Ocongate, passing through picturesque landscapes and lagoons like Huacarpay and Urcos, as well as the Urubamba River. After three hours, we arrive at the village of Tinki (3,770 m.a.s.l.), where we enjoy breakfast and visit the market. Then, we start our hike to Upis (4,400 m.a.s.l.), a trek of 3 to 5 hours, with views of the Nevado Ausangate and the daily life of the locals. Upon arrival, we have lunch and set up our first camp, which has hot springs. In the afternoon, we explore the Huayna Ausangate lagoon and enjoy a beautiful sunset. We conclude the day with dinner and a rest at the camp.
Day 2: Upis - Arapa Pass - Yanacocha - Pucacocha Lagoon
After an early breakfast, we ascend to Arapa Pass (4,850 m.a.s.l.), where we can appreciate the local flora and fauna. We descend for lunch and continue to Yanacocha lagoon, surrounded by stunning landscapes. Next, we hike to the unique Hatun Pukacocha lagoon, known for the color of its waters. Upon reaching the camp, we enjoy the views of the snow-capped mountains and have dinner before resting.
Day 3: Pukacocha Lagoon - Ausangateqocha - Palomani Pass - Huchuy Phinaya
We start the day with a hearty breakfast and ascend to Ausangate Pass (4,750 m.a.s.l.), where we have spectacular views. We then descend to Palomani Pass (5,200 m.a.s.l.), the highest point of the trek. Afterward, we descend further to the community of Huchuy Phinaya (4,650 m.a.s.l.), where we learn about local traditions. After an enriching connection with the villagers, we continue to Sorapata for our next camp, where we have dinner and rest.
Day 4: Jampa Pass - Pacchanta
With a delicious breakfast, we begin our hike to Jampa Pass (5,070 m.a.s.l.). We then descend for about five hours, passing several lagoons, until we reach Pacchanta (4,200 m.a.s.l.), a place full of mysticism. Here, we enjoy hot springs and a delicious lunch, with time to relax in nature. In the evening, we celebrate our final dinner.
Day 5: Pacchanta - Tinki - Cusco
The last day of our adventure begins with breakfast and the option to enjoy the hot springs. We descend from Pacchanta to Tinki, a walk of about two hours. Upon reaching Tinki, we take transportation back to Cusco, arriving around 6:30 p.m. This experience has been magical, filled with nature and culture.

Cancellations
This excursion you can cancel with no cost up to 24 hours before the start of the trip. If you cancel it after 24 hours or not show up on the excursion you will still be charged the full price of the activity. Being late on pick-up or departure will be considered as not showing up.
