We invite you to discover Waqrapukara, an Andean jewel that holds centuries of history and mystery, surrounded by imposing landscapes and deep canyons.
In approximately one hour of hiking, we will pass through meadows, traditional farming areas and charming Andean villages, enjoying the natural beauty and tranquility of the surroundings.
Upon reaching the summit, the tranquility and energy felt in the place are indescribable. Here, amidst the mountains and the open sky, it is easy to imagine how the ancient people used to go to Waqrapukara to perform ceremonies and offerings in honor of their gods.
Then our tour guide will take you to discover every corner of this sacred site, visiting its impressive towers, terraces and ceremonial enclosures, all full of history and mystery. As we explore, you will learn about the legends and the meaning of this Inca fortress, built in perfect harmony with the surrounding landscape, which will give us spectacular views of the Apurimac River.

Highlights

  • At 4:30 am in the morning we headed to the south of the city of Cusco.
  • We will drive for about 2 hours to the district of Cusipata.
  • Then a 2-hour drive will take us to the town of Santa Lucia.
  • We will begin a 2 km hike to Waqrapukara at 4300 m above sea level. The duration of the hike is approximately 1 hour.
