Description
This tour is full of adventure, we will hike observing the incredible landscape along the way. We will visit the Humantay lagoon, pass through Salkantay, Santa Teresa and finally Machu Picchu.
ITENERARIUM
Day 1: Cusco - Soraypampa - Humantay Lake - Salkantay Pass
We start with the pick-up service at the agreed meeting point and at 5:45 we head to Mollepata for 2 hours where we will have breakfast.
Then we continue by car for 1 more hour to Soraypampa where we will meet the riders and the horse that will carry all the luggage, food and the 7 kilos of belongings of each walker. We begin the uphill walk to the Humantay lagoon for 2 hours.
Then we begin to descend for 2 hours to the Soraypampa and continue at the Salkantay Pass camp.
Here you will enjoy a delicious lunch, basically you have free time to explore the area or you can rest.
Day 2: Salkantay Pass - Wuayracmachay - Chaullay
The second day of the trekking is the most difficult because it takes you up to 4630 m and 20 km of walking. The cooks will wake you up around 5:00 a.m. with a cup of hot coca tea, then you will have time to pack up again and get ready for the nutritious breakfast that is served around 5:45 a.m.
Next, we will start hiking to the highest point of the Salkantay trail for about 3 hours. At the spot the guide will teach you about the mountain gods and you will also take part in the small Andean ritual for the Apus, the mountain gods.
Then you start walking for 2 hours to the lunch spot. Then you continue downhill for 3 hours to the second camp, which is Chaullay, right at the beginning of the Peruvian Amazon area.
Day 3: Chaullay - Santa Teresa - Hydroelectric - Aguas Calientes
We wake you up around 6:00 a.m. with a cup of coca tea, then we offer you a delicious breakfast.
At around 7:00 a.m., you will start the hike to Sahuayaco Beach for approximately 5 hours, you will arrive at Sahuayaco Beach, from where you will take local transportation for one hour to Santa Teresa, where you will have lunch, then you will continue by car for another 45 minutes to Hidroeléctrica and then you will walk 3 hours along the train tracks to Aguas Calientes where you will rest.
Day 4: Machu Picchu - Cusco
After breakfast, you will start walking to the Puente de las Ruinas checkpoint for 30 minutes, which opens at 5:00 a.m., where you will need to show your passport and your entrance tickets to Machu Picchu.
After passing the first checkpoint, you will climb all the stairs for one hour to the main gate of Machu Picchu to be there around 6:00 a.m.
In Machu Picchu you will take the guided tour for 2.5 hours.
You must return to Cusco after visiting Machu Picchu and we offer you 2 options to return to Cusco, you can take the train or bus option.

When should I book?
To guarantee availability book as soon as possible. Early booking is worth consideration especially if you planning the trip during high season like public holidays or weekends.
Cancellations
This excursion you can cancel with no cost up to 24 hours before the start of the trip. If you cancel it after 24 hours or not show up on the excursion you will still be charged the full price of the activity. Being late on pick-up or departure will be considered as not showing up.
