Description
Experience piranha fishing at Lake Yacumama, where you’ll also spot colorful macaws, parrots, and calm caimans. Enjoy breathtaking views and unique wildlife encounters at sunrise or sunset!
One of the new activities in Tambopata is sustainable piranha fishing, allowing for a fun sport without impacting the Yacumama Lake ecosystem. This large lake, rich in flora and fauna, is perfect for observing small macaws and parrots, as well as large flocks of around 200 parakeets. The journey begins with a 25-minute car ride from the main square, where a local guide welcomes us with eco-friendly fishing rods and bait for the piranhas. After a 7-minute walk, we’ll take a canoe with a maximum of 7 passengers. At the entrance to Lake Yacumama, we might spot a calm caiman that sometimes approaches for photo opportunities.
