Description
Explore Krakow on a private tour with a local driver and guide. See the city's most popular attractions from the comfort of your car and learn about the city's history and culture.
Make the most out of your stay in Krakow and let your local driver show you around. Admire the most popular attractions from the comfort of your own private car in a fully customizable tour. Your Welcomer will share the historical facts, the necessary information about the sights and, of course, his personal input in order to immerse you into the Polish lifestyle.
Start your tour and dive into history in the Old Town, the city’s historic center. Wander around Rynek Główny, Europe’s largest medieval square surrounded by buildings of unique architecture. At the center of the square, the The Cloth Hall is located, but the centerpiece is the magnificent St. Mary's Basilica which features the largest Gothic altar in the world. Don’t miss out on the hourly trumpet call that echoes through the entire city.
Continuing further down, admire the Jagiellonian University and pause in front of Saints Peter and Paul Church to examine the statues of the 12 apostles at the front gate. If you happen to be there on Thursday you will witness first-hand demonstrations of the longest Foucault pendulum in Poland. Spend some time to explore the Wawel Hill and the Wawel Royal Castle that combines Romanesque, Gothic, and Renaissance styles. The highlight here is the “Dragon” sculpture and the legendary caves.
The next thematic unit of the tour revolves around the Jews. The historically significant Jewish quarter includes the Jewish Square, Christian churches, old synagogues and historical buildings from the former city of Kazimierz that was used as a setting for the awarded Steven Spielberg’s “Schindler’s List”.
As any other riverfront city, Krakow presents some beautiful bridges. Father Bernatek's Bridge is a very romantic one, ornated with a metal installation. The last part of the tour is a painful reminder of the tragedy that afflicted the Jewish community of Poland. The Ghetto Heroes Square and the Fragment of the Wall that separated the Jews from the rest of the Poles are must-see cultural locations. Oskar Schindler's Enamel Factory, whose owner inspired the same-titled film, is also open to the public.
At the end of the tour, your friendly Welcomer will drop you off at your accommodation in Krakow.
