Description

Conquer Ben Nevis and explore Glencoe on a 2-day hiking tour from Glasgow. Enjoy breathtaking views, learn about the area’s history, and stay overnight in Fort William.
Day 1: Glasgow to Fort William

Depart from Glasgow and head north through dramatic Highland scenery on a direct journey to Glen Nevis. Begin your ascent of Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in Scotland and Britain, rising 1,345 meters above sea level.

Once part of an ancient volcano, Ben Nevis is a legendary peak that draws hikers from across the world. The climb takes 7 to 9 hours, rewarding you with breathtaking views over the Highlands on a clear day and an unforgettable sense of achievement.

After descending, travel a short distance to Fort William, where you will check in to your accommodation. The evening is free to relax, enjoy local food and drink, and celebrate conquering Scotland’s highest summit.

Day 2: Fort William to Glencoe

Depart Fort William and travel south through spectacular mountain scenery on a short drive to Glencoe. Towering peaks and dramatic ridgelines surround you as you begin your hike into the hidden Lost Valley, a secret glen once used by Clan MacDonald to conceal stolen cattle from rival clans.

This atmospheric valley is also closely linked to one of the darkest chapters in Scottish history — the Massacre of Glencoe (1692), when members of Clan MacDonald were betrayed and killed by government soldiers who had been staying with them as guests.

Today, the glen stands as a powerful reminder of both Scotland’s rugged beauty and turbulent past. The hike takes approximately 2 to 3 hours, offering incredible views and a sense of stepping back in time. After returning to the car park, begin your journey south, arriving back in Glasgow.
