Visit Stirling Distillery for a guided tour and gin tasting. Learn about the distillation process, taste 6 gins and liqueurs, and hear about the history of the Old Smiddy.
Meet at Stirling Distillery, located inside the historic Old Smiddy, just a few minutes’ walk from Stirling Castle. Enjoy a relaxed 90-minute distillery tour and guided gin tasting inside a small, family-run working still house. The experience is mainly seated, with the copper still and production equipment only a few feet from the tasting table.

A member of the distillery team will guide you through six 25ml samples selected from Stirling Distillery’s handcrafted gin and liqueur range. Taste the samples side by side, allowing you to compare different aromas, flavors, and gin styles. Learn about the botanicals used in each spirit, the distillation process, and the local history and folklore that inspired the range.

Learn how Stirling Gin is produced, including how locally foraged Stirlingshire nettles help create its distinctive character. The original Stirling Gin received a Great Taste Award in 2022 and silver medals at the London and USA Spirits Awards. Learn how to nose and taste gin properly and receive practical advice on preparing a better gin and tonic at home.

Hear the story of the Old Smiddy, the family behind the distillery, and how legal distilling returned to Stirling after more than 170 years. Ask questions throughout, and no previous knowledge of gin is required.

Choose the standard option, which includes the complete tour and guided tasting of six gins and liqueurs. Alternatively, choose the special option, which includes the same experience plus a 5cl gin miniature and a Glencairn glass to take home. Children may attend with an accompanying adult and receive a mocktail. Alcohol is served only to guests aged 18 or over. Receive 10% off purchases from the distillery shop on the day.

The experience begins and ends at Stirling Distillery. Hotel pickup and transport are not included. Well-behaved dogs are welcome, and you may occasionally meet Theo, the distillery manager’s friendly dog.

This excursion you can cancel with no cost up to 24 hours before the start of the trip. If you cancel it after 24 hours or not show up on the excursion you will still be charged the full price of the activity. Being late on pick-up or departure will be considered as not showing up.
